Well, you may be a hardcore Emma fan, but probably not fan enough to take the tube over to Oxford Circus station, take a leisurely walk up Regent Street, and take a right at New Cavendish, and take pictures wantonly. Well, I found it. I found Emma's house. It wasn't on Marylebone Street like how everyone says, but it's actually on New Cavendish itself. I did take a picture of a couple of places on Marylebone, but they didn't have the same facade as in the anime. I thought the ones from Marylebone were it, but upon inspection, this one looked the most like Emma's house. Too bad I didn't realize it and took more pictures of it.
For a while I thought it was this one. But the facade's different, and so are the windows.
Here's Regent Street. Anyways, nix what I said before. I took a left on New Cavendish. :p
Here's the Marble Arch at the northeast corner of Hyde Park.
Here's some fountain on the eastern edge of Hyde Park. I don't think it's in Emma though. Looks too modern.
This path in Hyde Park is called Lovers' Walk. I wonder why...
Here's the arch at Hyde Park Corner, at the southeast corner of Hyde Park.
Hmmm.... that truck...
This is the Houses of Parliament as seen from the other side of Westminster Bridge. It's really too bad that there's construction on Westminster Bridge, but at least the barricades look nice...
One last thing... On Westminster Bridge Road, in the same building as the Saatchi gallery, is this cafe. Now, inside, is two plasma screens (they were showing Spirited Away at the time), and pictures all around that didn't look at all Japanese-drawn. They looked more like the Powerpuff girls than anything. But in the anime wasteland of England, I guess people don't even notice. Heck, even the people at the counter didn't know what I was talking about when I started talking about Emma... or anime in general...
Well, I get punished for my excessive knowledge of anime and manga, and my fanboyishness... look at that bill! :(
And here's a final shot of St. Paul's Cathedral. All these pictures were taken within the span of 4 hours. I walked all the way from Oxford Circus, to Emma's house, to Hyde Park (I tried to look for that memorial place in episode 4... no dice), Buckingham Palace, Westminster, the South Bank, OXO pier, then walked back to where I currently reside in Lambeth North. All this while it was raining. Damn you, English weather!
Whoa, that's pretty awesome, especially >>884. It really is a good match for the house. Especially since, looking at old maps, New Cavendish used to be (at least in part) yet another Marylebone Street, so it is probably the right street after all.
You have won the internet.
>Well, I found it. I found Emma's house. It >wasn't on Marylebone Street like how everyone >says, but it's actually on New Cavendish >itself.I refer you to my earlier post:>>782wherein I point out that much of what is now New Cavendish used to be Marylebone St.So the address is (or rather: *was*) correct.I agree, you're today's winner of the internet.
>(I tried to look for that memorial place in >episode 4... no dice)The Albert Memorial? It's in Hyde Park, right across from the Albert Hall. >All this while it was raining. Damn you, >English weather! You're missing the point that the rain is all part of the "Emma Experience":*"Sore ni... ame no naka warukuno kirei ja arimasen."*
>>906Ehh... no, those pictures don't match. Sure, they're both lanes in Hyde Park, but there's nothing else to tie them together. And Hyde Park has a lot of lanes.
Okay, fine. Picture deleted.
Yeah. Also, Lovers' Walk starts at a fountain and ends at Hyde Park Corner, not at a set of columns. No dice. :p
I'm surprised how exact Emma is...Mori's never even been to England...http://cerealandmilk.net/iichan/img/src/1112403871084.pnghttp://cerealandmilk.net/iichan/img/src/1112403912784.png
Ummm... can anyone care to actually send the link to this to Mori-sensei? Just a wild shot. It'd be great if she responded too.
>>912Mori's pretty good, but for the anime, there's obviously some incredibly obsessive people on the team to get this stuff right. The manga has a lot less historical detail than the anime.
I think Murakami Rico is the one to be grateful to. It's clear that, after he joined the team as historical consultant (first on the manga and, later, on the anime), the details have become exquisitely realistic.Of course, the British still read books right-to-left, and doors still open outwards. :-)As the Danish saying goes: "Træerne gror ikke ind i Himmmelen." ("The trees do not reach up into Heaven" = Nothing is perfect).
London Tower Bridge!
Piccadilly Circus...
This is at Covent Garden. There's a lot of performers here, including this robot-type mime. But you can see the facade of the actual Covent Garden.
You stole what from where????
Another shot of Covent Garden. So there you go. Well, I don't think I'll be sending photos all summer, since I found out I'm moving to Scotland next week. Anyways, I'm just thinking, I wonder why Emma would come all the way here to Covent Garden from Marylebone. It's at least a 40 minute walk, and the Underground didn't really cover that much of London at that time, if at all.
>>898 Wow, only 3 bucks for a latte? You sir, should live in Seattle for a while. :)

This is probably my last photo post. Here's the Albert Memorial (compared with the shot in Emma, of course)
I found this linked on the Japanese Emma page on Wikipedia:http://www.yks.ne.jp/~takaxo/food/Somebody else has been out having fun, too. But apparently they didn't go as far as finding the house.

Can someone translate this comment next to a photo of Negima books in a brit manga shop?「GOSH!」で「ネギま!」ですが私は深くは語らないでおこうフフフ。
To get there, go to the Oxford Circus Underground station, go out exit 4, then go north on Regent Street until it stops, then keep going north on Cavendish Place past the BBC Broadcasting House and Duchess Street, then turn left onto New Cavendish. It's between Haysmouth Mews and Harley Street.
The other building is 63.
The sign on the door.(The black thing that's on the door in the OP picture is gone now)
