Now, now, I'm not all gone - it's just that I hardly have time for anything at all, these days. But I did provide *some* help with this, did I not?

BTW, You may hear the story that Aïda premiered at the opening of the Suez Canal - this is a commonly-told untruth. In fact, Verdi was approached with a proposal to write an inaugural ode for that occasion, but declined with some hauteur.

Oh, and the fact that the Pound was 20 Shillings, and the Guinea was 21 Shillings led to some funny occasions. Much haggling for expensive deals (i.e. among businessmen) would take place in alternating Guineas and Pounds, so that one might sometimes be confused as to whether the new offer was actually any better than the old one - or worse.

Traditionally, insurance and shipping were priced and paid for in Guineas, to avoid this kind of haggling.

You absolutely did. A good portion of the entry on Mrs. Trollope is an almost verbatim quotation from an email FON sent me.

You guys are so awesome. It makes me fear that a commercial translation could never match this kind of quality and attention to detail.

Minor nitpick: ^_^;;
Thus Miss Hartwick solitary walks are quite unusual.

I will be willing to bet real money that any commercial translation (whether anime or manga) will steal.. *ahem* be strongly inspired by... the Guides.

I've thought that, as well. I do know we've pushed fan expectations pretty high in that regard; I feel very proud of that.

Yes...
Though the saying is that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", we do know that nothing says "We think you did a great job." quite as well as "We're going to rip off your work and present it as our own." :-)

We'll get around to it. Some day.

No we won't. Even the Red-Headed League couldn't accomplish that task.
