This has hit that insatiable curiosity nerve. Could anyone please translate?

>> No.2655

It's pretty hilarious, but I am just a little bit too lazy to work throught it and translate it.

It's basically "Hey! FOREIGNERS like ANIME PORN too! But they call it HENTAI!"

>> No.2657

Also, it says, "Hey! You can download hentai things from a lot of foreign sites. Here we go!"

But probably, the article is nothing new to those who already use the internet for porn.

I recently purchased June 2006 edition of Previews, catalog specialized in comic books, graphic novels and manga.
On it was preview of Emma.
I have scanned the sample pages for Emma fans to scrutinize.

>> No.2450

I'm not sure he really means to give her 100200 handkerchiefs, either.

Ok, snarkiness aside, it's not too bad. Whispers is right that her editing is better in general, and some lines are a bit awkward, but overall it's decent.

>> No.2452

I expected you people to be a lot more disappointed. ; )

>> No.2456

I haven't read the original Japanese edition or any other English translation. But, I'm sure Emma said "ハンカチを一枚" in the first page.

As you may already know, Japanese language doesn't have definite/indefinite articles such as "a, an, the". So if she said 一枚, she clarly indicated the number.

As for that "100, 200", I guess William said "100枚でも200枚でも", didn't he? If so, でも means the numbers are just an example or supposition. What William meant is "even though it is 100 or 200, that is fine."

In my opinion, William's answer is something like:
"A handkerchief? Fine! But Only one? I'll get you 100 or 200 if you wish."

The editor didn't have to emphasize the word "handkerchief" because William didn't care the handkerchief. He did care the price. He just wanted to impress it on her that he would buy anything, and really wanted to give her a more expensive present.

>> No.2459

There is a comma between the 100 and 200, isn't there?

>> No.2460

But that comma could seem to be just a pose inserted for readability between the third and the fourth digit of 100200.

>> No.2462

Exactly. It's not wrong to write like that, but it's also not something you should do, because it is ambiguous.

>> No.2468

CMX has inherited random bolding from their parent company, I see.

>> No.2547

In the hands of a good author, with a good editor, bolding can work well and not be intrusive in American comics. Trying to jam it in to translated manga doesn't seem like a capital idea, though.

>> No.2618

Actually, I rather like bolding. Not so much reading; but when writing it gives me security that there's less of a chance if mis-interpretation.
Mind you, given that the typesetter started randomly bolding one portion, and left the rest alone makes me think he/she didn't know what they were doing. The only usage of it I agree with is the handkerchief statement.

Yes, sound effect explanations are just about the worst way to handle sound effects. Either edit all of them, some of them, or none of them. Don't go around writing little comments about them - this only breaks up the flow of the page, and distracts the reader.

It seems that there is another picture that describes a "腐女子 fujoshi," a certain sort of female manga maniac, and someone made 2532 as a parody. 2533 may be the translation of the original picture, not of 2532. So if you're asking to confirm the accuracy of the translation, both two are different.

If you're asking whether what the picture of 2533 is saying is true, I'd have to say there are many such girls in Japan.

Top right: "We asked ten lesbian and bisexual girls! During sex with your girlfriend, do you want 'Penis Insertion'? Or, is there something you thought about?"

Panels on the right page, moving right to left, top to bottom:

Panel 1: "A lesbian doesn't, right?" I can't read the second part.

Panel 2: I don't know whether to interpret うーん as うん or ううん "If it were done by Tama... I think it would be ok?" Note: I'm assuming that Tama is her girlfriend; tama might actually refer to a physical something instead?

Panel 3: "The truth is, I have something I thought about." I can't make out the verb's kanji in the second half of the bubble. "But I don't need it every time." I can't think of a way to get the proper tone the ね gives across in the translation, though.

Panel 4: "I've done it before with a man but..." I can't fully understand her second statement Text on the background: "That dick only ever thought about 'sticking it in'." I'm not sure if ちんこ is meant to refer to the man or his penis; I'm guessing that is on purpose?

Panel 3: The truth is, I've considered it before. I thought it might be nice to try a new kind of fun. I don't need it every time, though.

Panel 4, second line: With a woman, I get more of a sense of togetherness.
Panel 4, handwritten text: When his penis was in me, I just thought, "Oh, it's in there." That was it.

Panel 5: I haven't, but now that you mention it... I might be a little interested?

Question, if someone has the time/energy for it: is it normal for Japanese people to "think in kanji" and make mistakes like this? Or are they just trying hard to show that the guy is a calligraphy nut?
>> No.1644
If he got to know Yurie's family name from list or name tag, and so on, it's not a so unusual thing.
As your knowing, "一橋" kanji has two readings. And he dos't decided reading only by seeing "一橋" kanji.

However in actlly, he got to know her family name from her tarking.
It's pretty weird that he hears "Hitotsubasi" reading, although he memorizes as "Ichihashi".
Under conversation, Normal Japanese people also memorizes one'name as sound preferentially than kanji character. (As like English sperker memorizes one'name as sound preferentially than spelling.)
I think this confusion is expression of his unique characteristic and he isn't interested in her at chapter#1 yet.

Because I'm a Japanese who can't speak English, this sentence is may be strange. But It is glad if my text make sense :)
