It was just announced at SDCC. Watch out, iitran. Yen Press belongs to the anti-scanlation coalition. They would love nothing more than to sue scanlators and their readers.
Heh, you got your post up just before I did, so I deleted mine. ^_^
Yen Press might go after scanlators, but the translators here seem to be among the more responsible ones who stop translating a title when it gets licensed, and stop distributing it. I've enjoyed reading the scanlations of Otoyomegatari (and Emma before that), and I really look forward to buying Yen Press's version whenever it hits TRSI, Amazon, or one of the bookstores, and making a minor contribution to Mori Kaoru's income. Thanks for all the work that you've done iitran! ^_^
I hope that Yen will license-rescue Emma when DC lets go of it.
As I know Ingraman is right, I may as well say it now:
Iichan translation folks - thank you, very much, for all the work you've put in on your scanlations. I've loved reading them and want to thank you for introducing me to Otoyomegatari in the first place :)
I am going to -miss- them, but I am thrilled that Otoyomegatari has been licensed, and I'm looking forward to being able to buy the english versions :D
To all you people at IItran, thank you for all your hard work and effort! I believe that you made possible that titles like Otoyomegatari, Emma and Shirley were licensed on the US, as great as these titles are, they wouldn't had been picked if readers didn't know about them and their author.
Add another big thanks being given out here for introducing us to Otoyomegatari!
I can't wait to buy the releases!
Yup, that means we've dropped this, and wait for the Yen Press books like everyone else. Let's hope they do a good job of it!
Maybe we'll find something else in Fellows! to work on, there's no lack of good series there that are getting totally ignored. We'll see how we feel.
Give "Gisèle Alain" a try in Fellows! ^^ The first chapter was really good =)
And thanks for your hard work on Otoyomegatari!
YP will also release a special edition with hardcover and larger than normal trim size so Mori is getting the high class treatment. Wonder if YP will consider serializing the series in their magazine since it will be so long in between volumes.
First HSOTD and now this. Let's hope they catch up to the story soon, oh wait, it's Yen Press, they like to translate things nice and SLOOOOOOOOOOOW.Well, whatever, thanks for the translations iitran!
Yeah volume one of Gisèle Alain is out this month
Gisèle Alain isn't bad but I am more of a fan of Tamariver and Ran to haiiro no sekai. To name just a few. Then there are some newcomers like Hoshikuzu Nina... That magazine has a ridiculously high number of good series.
Well, I only managed to read Otoyomegatari and Gisèle Alain from the Fellows!, so I can't tell for others manga in it ^^
But, yeah, this magazine looks really awesome, both in stories and arts! So anyways, I'll look forward to seeing your next project =)
Well, it's a good new for you guys :)
I'll have to wait decade before it finally licensed in France (and even if it licensed 75% of the manga are badly translated :( )
I might have to import the english version xd (if the price isn't too hight lol)
Whoa, I don't log on for awhile and STUFF HAPPENS. I see the group officially dropped it without me saying a word... I'm sincerely proud of you for that, guys.
borthers... I'm in pain right now, first, the editorial will be eons behind, then to get it in germany will be a pain in the ass...
is there no other group who's gonna take over you? at least... scan the licensed one?
but I do thank you very much for the hard work, keep going
>>16 Ditto! Nonetheless, only out of my deep respect to Mori Kaoru-san, I shall do my best and get YP releases. .. Many thanks iitran for introducing us to such wonderful manga, and for the great efforts you put into your scanlations.
As a suggestion I think you could do a read-only on-line version allowing others just read the chapter and calm down for the wait of the official release. Binktopia is doing pretty much the same and I think is a good idea... just think about it, if you like it or not this idea thanks for your great work!!!
^ that's same as onemanga. didn't they get notice from publisher to take down some/all series
I really apreciate all the work you guys did. This manga is amazing.
This manga possibily will never come to Brazil, so I will buy the english version.
Agreed on Ran to haiiro no sekai. I think Aki Irie is someone to watch.
Oh why!? What a sad day. Now I will have to wait ages and more because I have to import the manga as its not available in my country. Anyways thanks for all the work you put into this so far.
anybody know how/where to order volume of otoyomegatari? and can hey shipped to our home directly (INA)?
Comon we all know that they dont care for little scanlation they only get onemanga because it have 1 bilion clics a month in alexa (I as surprise to know that too, but its true) and I sincerely don't believe that you are at risk, for scanlate Otoyomegatari for more acouple of months.
do you want to take responsibility IF by any chance they (publisher) take down this board because 1 series.
-> but i suppose to share raw n translation is not a problem?
Responsibility? I gona tell you about Responsibility if a rave access to raw and translation for Otoyomegatari I will do the scalation, they (publisher) know that they are dealing in majority whit kids and adolecents thats why the create the coalision to scare peaple even talking about FBI and stuf, but I am not a kid, I am last year formand in advocatcy in Brasil and I have a lot of knowledge of american ant-piratari laws and I tell this the only way they shot you dawn is if you scanlate the same chapter that they published, or his future Releases, i mean until they publishe Otoyomegatari chap 13 you're more secure than a safe.(if smeone don't belive me just ask a lawyer).
Ühüüüü I want Otoyomegatari!!!!
i wonder when will Yen Press drop its (otoyomegatari)license
No offence, but maybe you guys should get out of the scanlation business altogether. Every manga you scanlated has ended up getting licensed midway, which sucks for people who for some reason can't get the English books.
>>33
Well, it's possible, but not every single serie gets to be published here (it would be quite impossible). Since Emma was licenced in France, it's more likely that Otoyomegatari will eventually be so too.
Anyways, it's still quite rare for a manga to be licenced so early (only 2 volumes), usually, publishers wait for 4-5 volumes.
>>34
This one only gets new chapters every 2 months instead of monthly, so time-wise it's about the same. I do hope they serialize it in Yen Plus because the wait between full volumes would be agonizing. It's probably the only manga that could get me to subscribe to such a service.
Where can I buy Otoyomegatari? I can't find it anywhere?
I think it's great that people will be able to buy english versions of Otoyomegatari. It's important to support the mangaka of your favorite manga if you can do so. I hope IITran will continue to scanlate the manga for those people who aren't, for whatever reason, able to purchase it as well. Thanks for all your hard work!
I can't help but think that the volumes and issues we're current with won't be commercially available (in English) for quite a while yet. I'd happily buy them if they are. (I'd own this series for the art alone! The awesome story is a huge bonus.) I do hope we can all share in new chapters in a timely fashion, either through published tanks or through the high-quality work we've come to expect from the team here. Thanks for the work thus far, iitran folks. If you decide to scanlate any more, I'll be ready!
At least I want to know what happens in Chapter 13.
I'm going to be vrazy if I don't know this.
I hope IITran will continue to scanlate the manga for those people who cant buy it.
It's not because people are doing things, that you have to do the same... Unless you're a sheep =)
They have made their choice, so be it.
Hello
Could you write a short summary of what happens in chapter 13?
I just want to know if the story goes on with Mr. Smith or with Amira & Co.
as far as i know latest ch is 12.
ch 13 not yet released in magazine....., i think
Actually, no, it was released on 08/15.
I managed to get the raw, I could post a link there if whispers is okay with that...
>>51 Does the chapter continues with Amira and Karluk or Mr. Smith?
Goddamnit!
As someone said before with series published in France, in Spain it happens just the same thing: If we ever get to have any manga published, then translations are a complete failure or the series get suddenly stalled indefinitely.
Geezzzz.
It continues with Smith and Talas, just where the story was left in the previous chapter.
It also seems that there are some complications with Talas, I think some other guy want to marry her or something like that, but can't tell for sure, since I can't speak Japanese...
the raws.... the raws T.T
we need the raws T.T
We'd really rather you don't post any scans here of licensed series.
There are sites dedicated to such things; use them for that if you must.
Please, no direct links to raws or translations here. I'll have more to say later.
Ok, no problem, it's your board after all =)
By the way, are you gonna translate some new manga? If so, from the Fellows?
@Hunk: oh i'm dying for this manga. I've searched everywhere but couldn't find chap 13. If you don't mind please send me the raws of chapter 13. Thank you so much :->
@ whisper
what the latest news about license condition of shirley
dit it really expired? (based on previous rumour)
Has Yen Press set a release date for Otoyomegatari yet?
Any word on who will be publishing Otoyomegatari in English?
Having the license does not mean they are going to publish it, we seem many publishers buying licenses in bulk or just getting them because they are attached to the Japanese publisher.
You really thing this is going to be published? Take a good look at the characters ... a underage boy married to a adult women.
there're are many stories that have such themes... I don't see why it shouldn't be published. I am looking for to it and will definitely buy it when it comes out ^^
It looks like Vol 1 will come out in May 2011. Source is here: http://www.yenpress.com/a-brides-story/
Good news, #68. I wonder if it will be censored though. I can think of certain scenes in a yurt and a bath house ...
is it still proper to discuss otoyomegatari in here? or just for yen press release?
>Yen Press is proudly publishing Kaori Mori’s beautifully-illustrated tale in a deluxe hardcover edition.
>>70
Well, we can discuss how much we're anticipating the deluxe hardcover edition.
SO. FUCKING. EXCITED. This must be how Mori feels when she watches historical maid dramas just before the secret lesbian tryst.
