I was in Japan last month for a few weeks travelling around and I took advantage of my Japan Rail travel pass to visit Onomichi, the home of Middle-School Goddess Hitotsubashi Yurie and her friends from Kamichu!
Something that didn't appear in the series was the cablecar that runs up (and down) to a lookout point above the town and the sea strait that separates the mainland portion of Onomichi from the offshore islands. Of course I took advantage of it and filmed the descent on my shiny new digital camera. You can see the results if you download the file "cablecar.avi" from my 4shared account folder:

The movie is about 20Mb long, encoded in xVid and runs about three minutes. The audio isn't brilliant but you can hear the attendant in the background giving a running commentary on the view (in Japanese, of course...)
I'll be putting more stuff from my trip up on the Web (still photos in Photobucket, probably) in the near future. Enjoy.
Thank you! I'm watchimg Kamichu at the moment, so it'll be nice to see the actual place. I'm looking forward to the other stuff about your trip. :)
That reminds me, I still haven't put together the material from my own trip to Miura and other YKK locations. I really need to do that.
Heh. I wanted to visit the Miura peninsula for the YKK connections but I just couldn't A) drag myself away from Onomichi and B) find hotels on the peninsula outside the bigger cities such as Kamakura. I didn't make it to the western coast of the peninsula at all.
Next time though, next time. Right now I'm savng up for a ticket to New Venezia on Aqua...
