Hey - as an original Victorian Romance Emma / Kaoru Mori HUGE fan, I particularly appreciate the speed at which you've been turning these excellent Second Series Episodes out.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd start a Google Earth Map of VRE (along the lines of YKK) complete with contempory & Victorian photos ..... but I've at least got the energy to award you the VREC for conspicuous maidolatry in the face of overwhelming urges! Postcoitally of course (smirks & seeds).

Well, it's a pleasant surprise alright. I'm just pleased to see the data keep moving.

I don't understand the need from the producers to deviate the scenes so much. I know the ending will be pretty much the same, as you can see just by looking at the opening, but some of the decisions seem completely out of place:

1. Emma making a diary and pretty much pitying herself seems completely out of sorts. It makes the character quite dislikeable, IMO.
2. Having Eleanor visit William to confront him seems also out of sorts, since she is not a proactive character. She is pretty much passive throughout the first part of the anime series and the entirety of the manga. Having Hakim take her there while visiting the Cambell mansion is even more puzzling. What the heck is Hakim doing there in the first place? Far too convenient a story element if you ask me.
3. Having Hans as a real third wheel (which seems to be highlighted in the previews for episode 10) is completely unnecessary. Why do anime producers always feel the need to create romantic triangles? The third person in the triangle was Eleanor... and that is over and done with.
4. Viscount Cambell was a much fiercer adversary in the manga. It is a pity they took the fire away from him in the anime.
5. For being German children, the 2 kids from the from Emma's employer speak really good English.

There are only 2 scenes from the total deviation that episodes 7 8 and 9 have that I really liked: William and his mom talking in episode 9, and how the producers decided to portray the ripple effects of William's decisions by showing Grace all alone in the party. That one actually wrked better than the whole "boyfriend" thing in the manga.

Whispers, I did some research after our first conversation about wedding dresses. We were both a bit off!

Red wasn't a popular colour, because it was considered to be a colour for prostitutes. Blue was popular I think. As well, towards the end of the Victorian Era, white was popular, in part because of Queen Victoria wearing a white gown when she married Prince Albert in 1840. Neat ne?

It certainly doesn't flow gracefully off the tongue. I'm guessing it should be

The way the anime is going lately really has me torn.

On the one hand, yay! More Hans!

On the other hand, filler. UGH.

I don't think it's THAT bad, but when I think of how the manga is already finished, meaning they had plenty of material to work with, it really seems unnecessary to do all this.

problem is, they could only fit 2 volumes of the manga into the first season before going over budget.

so now they're trying to fit in the remaining 5 volumes in the 2nd season. So they have to cut it up and rewrite it and squeeze everything in. And we all know how easily you can ruin a great story by trying to fit it into a specific duration of time.

Kind of reminds me of the last episode in the previous season - Lily of the Valley - a flower. But it better not end as a cliffhanger this time!!
I liked William's scene with Aurelia... but i think William proposing at the door is just...weird...especially since the other maids were just gossiping about her. Couldnt he just catch her on a day-off, or when she was running an errand, then go on a nice walk with her in Hyde Park-reminding her of the good memories they had in the past-and then propose to her??!! Not surprised if she turns him down - unromantic, uncreative and worst of all, so sudden. And it's kind of ironic that he promises protection for Emma, but he's not doing so good for himself or his family... Gah. I'm all for the Emma-William pairing, but i hope it gets on nicely!!

It bothered me that the anime deviated so far from the manga, but after watching episode after episode, I really don't care anymore anyway. Ahhhh the cliffhanger to eppy 9 is killing me! >_<

You think episode 9 is bad, wait until you see 10 & 11.
It's one unanswered question to another.
One thing for sure, unless the producers have a miraculous way to all the knots in just episode we will probably be kept waiting fir a long time again.

i must say that as unromantic and sudden as william's proposal was, it fits his personality (in the anime at least) just right. it was such a william thing to do that had i been emma i would have been horrified than laughed and accepted him so he could keep me amused if nothing else.

eleanor is still a baby and she bothers me even more with her bravado. weird, i liked her in the first season.

someone please shake emma and make her snap out of it...just make sure it is not hans. i saw episodes 10 and 11 and i am SO not pleased with hans right now. i truly prefer "william the turd" to "hans the brave".

is it just me, or am i sensing some kind of "bad omen" in the end of the series? Up to now, there is no real development between Emma and William. How do you make a storyline that, that leads to a happy conclusion?? Unless there is some miracles, things may go a different direction, which i really want to avoid and hate to see that from happening. Something is not right here.

i think its up to u weather or not u want to read the rest of Emma first before watching the rest. I did find a place that still had up scans of translated Emma manga (shame on them..good for us) and i read all the way through i'm still enjoying the anime thought. And to support the Emma manga i've still be buying them as they come out.

Since the anime is different its nice to compare and contrast on the other hand its still nice to anticipate what is to come next.

Hey thank you all for subbing this. I kind of like the anime as it is.
I am way pass complains now. I make myself believe this is a brand new story for us to say "uuuh" "aah" "interesting" "what a shock!". And yes, it´s true, I love the manga better. But I also enjoy the animation and I am waiting and prepared to be "shocked", as they said in the promo. (I´ll try to swallow a couple of aspirin tablets twice a day so it doesn´t affect my heart and to suppress my killer instints against the producers of the anime).

But hey, the anime is not THAT awful. Yes, it is true that the characters have mostly changed. For example, in the anime, Grace just accepts everything as it is (she better find herself a boyfriend soon...). William and Emma are so different to those we used to love but still deserve our appreciation. And Hans (secretly laughing with joy) is more interesting now. Even Eleanor is likable (she looks more grown up and annoying in the anime but...) though I am afraid there is not enough episodes to be in Earnest hint so... we must pity her. The other secondary characters (Arthur, Hakim, and Monica -what the h*** happened with my long awaited affair?! shameles b**** i was waiting to get at least a glimpse of India) are very undeveloped but they are, well... THERE! ... at least we get to see them in color.
Believe me, I am happy that there is a second season whatever the results are.
