I think it's nice too that it is different from the Manga. At least something different to look forward to for people who already know the story. Though it is a bit sad that they left out the nice events;e.g when william visited Emma in Haworth for the first time and Emma ran towards him.

Maybe not that intensely, but I will be severely disappointed if they go out to please the Hans fans and deviate largely from the manga. =/
Although I only brisked through episode 6, I think the reason for such large deviation from the manga is because in the manga William, her mother and Emma sat down together to talk things over where as in the anime this did not happen, only to hear from William's mom that they talked not elaborating the details.
I am just anxious as the rest of you to see how it turns out.

I just finished watching ep.10(RAW) and things are really going in a different direction.
I can think of a few plots that may place Emma in the US but at the moment there is no clear motive for it to develop into that direction.
THe plot thickens.
One of the things that worry me about the series, is that episode 9 already aired in Japan and it seems that they still stay away from the manga story line. Too bad, the letters exchange and William's visit to Haworth are two of my favorites chapters. I have my doubts about how would they end the story in just 3 episodes, and there is not enough material form the manga for 24 episodes.

I think there will be 12 episodes plus episode 00, but as I mentioned above, it would be horrible to cram two volumes of manga in just three episodes, and there are at least 4 or 5 chapters of the manga that are worth been animated.

what happened to the strong, quiet and resilient girl that makes Emma who she is??!!?? ah!!!!!!!! She seems to be so depressed and weak...gah.
Seriously, if she were someone i know, and i see her in such a state, i would just tell her to give the guy up, cos if this "relationship" is just making her - and the guy - worse people than what they used to be before they got together, the relationship is not worth the effort. Well, Emma isnt technically involved with William now, but obviously her heart yearns for him.
i hope her attitude or personality will change for the better by the end of the series!!

I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND! Why would they animate more Emma if it's going to have another parting like season 1? There are so many things hinting that it will not work out, or am I being paranoid?
First there's the "shocking conclusion" line in the trailer --shocking as in a noble pairing up with a maid, or shocking as in a different ending than the manga? Then there's Emma being a little too mellow when she's around William, like he's a bother or something. Then there's the whole shebang with the pudding cake and the lucky charms inside it; with Emma getting the ring representing "a lover" and Hans getting the bells representing a "wedding." And lastly there's William's mom foretelling that the two will learn the realities of life whether they want to or not (was that in the manga?). Hohurm... I just don't get why they put Emma in such a sorrowful state. She should be yearning for William a little more fervently.
I'm probably just being a paranoid fanboy. You don't think that maybe Emma just thinks that there's no way her and William will pair up? So she's ending it before somebody else ends it for her? Emma and Hans may be compatible in a lot of ways (the same way William and Elenaor are compatible), but I can't forget the love from the first season that easily.
Please excuse me, I get a little passionate about the Cinderella type romances. :)

My beloved translators are experiencing some unfortunate circumstances in their personal lives, and episode 8 and 9 are going to be delayed a bit. I'm doing all the other steps in the process without the translation so I can finish up as soon as I can after they get done.

Wow..thanks whispers for the information, i was wondering already why the delay...i already saw episodes 8 and 9 RAW, I didnt understand a thing of why they were saying but i understood some of what is going on, unfourtunetly I didnt read the Manga so for me this is the best thing :), i knew from EMMA from the episodes you upload on the Web and after the first episode I couldnt stop...now i can't wait episode 8 and 9 to be subbed, i think the brake up with Eleanor is definitive and Hans is open up a little bit more to EMMA, but EMMA and William's love is not going to end:) I hope so, otherwise i will be veryyyyyyyy dissapointed. Anyway i have to wait for the sub, i hope the translators can work it out...and that everything go fine with them and their family...best regards my friends...

I'm with Zanza; William and Emma are just meant to be together. Their personalities and temperaments fit well and compliment each other's. With Emma and Hans... well, I doubt there'd be much in the way of talking.
Seeing Colin again in this episode reminded me of a thought I had earlier. Since he's the third son he'd most likely go into the military service, but being as it's what, 1898? (I'm going by the dates on Kelly's headstone) he'd be the perfect age to serve in WW1.
Don't worry, though I don't mind emma with hans but then I don't think it would end that way. :) Saw ep 10 raw. It's even more romantic than the manga now I think. It's like emma playing hard to get and William working hard to get her..... sigh

Yeah, I haven't seen a person so complicated and so hard to get as Emma :D . After a couple of weeks been upset for the changes done to the original story I'm happy to see this episode been so romantic. Thumbs up to Mrs. Molder and Hakim who rooted for the couple.

As I was going over the introductory ad for this 2nd act, I notice that it announces "衝撃の終幕" at the end, meaning "Shocking closure of act (or curtain)" this does not readily mean end of play which usually consists of 3 to 4 acts not 2 and the preview of ep 11 looked as if it was a recap episode.

I'm afraid it would come down to how many DVD's the first and second series sell. I would like a third series but to wait a year or two would be a pain.
Ok, I haven't personally seen the raws (nor episode 7 for that matter, I'm waiting for the whole thing to be out so I can marathon it), but the more impressions I read, the more I get into it. And the more I think of why Emma would avoid William so much. I think it's pretty obvious why, but just to work things out here are my reasons and theories why Emma would avoid William and possibly find comfort with Hans. (Damn it to hell!)
Reason #1 - William's engagement to Eleanor. Though the two shared a kiss in episode 5, she probably thinks of this as a final "goodbye" kiss? The fact that marriage is taken so seriously in the Victorian era, she thinks (or knows) there's no way the two can make a clean break and thus she doesn't delusion herself into believing she has a fair chance with William.
Reason #2 - Criticism. From either the gentry class or the rich folk in general. Her involvement with William will spark too much controversy to be able to live happily together.
Reason #3 - She doesn't feel worthy, or feels altruistic towards the whole thing. Related to #2, perhaps. Maybe she really does think of herself as unworthy to be involved with an upper class man, that she's taking advantage of his wealth or what have you. Or maybe she knows what's best for William, maybe she's just wise? By avoiding William she'll force him to give in and marry into nobility, making his family status worthy. By putting herself aside, she sees a better prospect for both William and Eleanor, and lead a normal life as either a single maid or with Hans?
I think I'll stop it there. I thought I had more, but I guess writing it out made me compress it. :P I'm still thinking on how this series could end. I'll keep it short.
Ending Theory #1 - The fairy-tale ending. Emma and William run away together to America! The second son inherits the Jones fortune. Hans stays a loner. Mr. Jones retires and goes to live with Mrs. Trollop in the country. Hakim goes back to India or follows a dream in "the land opportunity."
Ending Theory #2 - The nice ending. Emma and William somehow stay together, though at the expense of their reputation. William inherits the fortune and insists that Emma, and any maid for that matter, are real people and should be treated as such. Hakim stays in England to see what else happens.
Ending Theory #3 - The bittersweet ending. Emma turns down both Hans and William and continues living as a regular maid.
Ending Theory #4 - The bad ending. Emma and Hans become an item. Just before William and Hans confront each other, Emma decides to put down William with a final goodbye scene and insists that it simply can't work out between the two given the circumstances. William reluctantly accepts and moves along with his way, possibly in tears. Eleanor decides not to marry him either since she suffered so much through it all. Hakim goes back to India.
Ending Theory #5 - The Sopranos ending. Emma is about to decide who's she gonna pick and suddenly the screen goes black and the credits roll!
Ending Theory #5 - The Hideki Anno ending. Everybody dies and the world is REBORN!! But wait, you aren't REALLY dead! You just have to wish yourself back to life! Easy, right?!
Anybody got any insight? I got my money on Theory #5.

I think the ones who created the promo at the begininning didn't know if it will end so they made it vague on purpose.

Maybe the "Shocking Closure" is due to the fact that the story line is so deviated that people who seen it would think that Emma and William will not be together (and with Hans in the picture) but in the end, Emma follows her heart and vaguely remember what Mrs Stoner told her in the first season... it may sound naive, but hey, blame that to the producer... I bet, at the end of the series, there will be a romantic kissing scene at the Crystal Palace. Shocking!!! Lol

Interesting analysis. I want the "nice ending" to happen though... If i recall properly, the manga had a few chapters dedicated to William and Emma spending time together and Emma learning the ropes of society. Humph. I dont see time for this to happen in the last 2? episodes.
Assuming there are only 2 more episodes left, here's my speculation for the last two episodes:
Nice ending: ep.11 Lots of reflection, Emma meets Al and rmbs Kelly's words. Wakes up. reads letters. ep. 12 accepts William's proposal, learns the ropes of society, go to her first ball
Sopranos ending: ep.11 Lots of reflection. Hans and William persist. ep.12 Showdown between William and Hans. Things start getting physical, Emma runs out to stop them and profess her love to one of them but before she says who, the credits roll.
I dont even want to consider the other endings... even though i think the bittersweet one is a possibility... she disappears in the middle of the William-Hans fight. Mrs Wieck finds a letter of resignation on her desk. Fast-forward 10 years. Hans might have been promoted to head butler or he might start his clock-mending shop. And William has inherited his father's business, buries himself in work and keeps to himself. He is famous in society for being a resolute bachelor.Emma is working someplace else, probably as a lady's maid. Emma is turning in for the night, and something jogs her memory about the times spent in London. She remembers the letters William wrote her but she never opened. She opens one for the first time. A teardrop rolls down her cheek.
Ooh, here's another ending - the sweet ending: The Sopranos ending... and just when you think credits are about to roll, there is one additional scene: Emma's in her room - not richly deccorated or plain either. She's dressing to go out. From outside her room, a young child's voice calls out "Ma, are you ready? We're waiting for you!!! I want to get to the Crystal Palace early!!". Emma laughs, saying "Coming, dear." Then she either takes out the necklace Kelly gave her and puts it around her neck, or grabs her lace hankerchief, before turning to leave the room.
