Thank you soooooooooooooooo much. I usually get my updates from animesuki, but it's not loading for me now, and by some chance I just decided to come to the site anyway. THANK YOU. I LOVE THIS ANIME. [I REALLY LOVE HANS. SHH.]

Anyway, thanks very very much. I think I'll stay up to watch this, if it finishes tonight :D I really appreciate this group for the work done. :D

Thank so much for the hard work~! ^^

i see how the anime differs from the manga ~ which i do not mind, because that means more unexpected things may happen =D

Thank you for yet another wonderful episode ^^

I loved the flashbacks with everyone in them. Especially the picture of Arthur chasing after a bug on his hands and knees. Now, whenever he acts like he acts all aloof and such I will picture that and laugh =)

Edward was quite dashing in his younger years, as well =D And, it seems, a bit if a family man to boot! It's a shame that he's changed over the years.

I have read the manga and watched the anime, especially this episode, the anime took a very different turn. So the Molders will move to London? Then does that mean that Aurelia will move back to the Jounes mansion? Hm... I'm just wondering.

13 Name: karajan : 2007-06-02 03:02 ID:OXnKoAQs [Del]

Many thanks Shirley for the ddl! Sigh..I half-expected Aurelia to intervene for Wil's benefit (I think Emma had a bit of that same hope seeing how the first place she went to was Aurelia's), though she probably speaks from experience of being frowned upon in high society.

My guess is, She had to return the clothes :)

Heh, it must have been quite a distance to walk if it's just to return her nice winter coat. By the way, something struck me: why is Aurelia known as Mrs Trollope in Germany? Her maiden name is Hartwick afterall. Or is she using an alias to reference Victorian novelist Anthony Trollope?

18 Name: servidor : 2007-06-02 09:19 ID:JQ2MnenB [Del]

>>17 I had read two version of this, one as you said is a reference to the novelist Anthony Trollope, or it was his mother? and the other as a corruption of the word misanthrope.

Thank you very much for the Episode, I cant wait for the next one, now they are going back to London..I am sure that Emma and William will see each other again..:) i can't believe i am so addicted to this series.."deepbreath" can't wait :)

20 Name: zenaida : 2007-06-02 10:42 ID:FKEaA6cA [Del]

>>17 Anyway, just to clarify, Aurelia isnt in Germany when she's staying at the countryside. She's in the UK - either at Haworth or just outside Haworth. And regarding the "Mrs Trollope" name, i would go with the manga's explanation - that it is a corruption of "misanthrope".
It's weird that Aurelia didnt stick to her formal name - i would think that Victorians were very particular about stuff like this. Then again, Aurelia and Dorothea are not the most formal of people and are even kind of non-Victorian in their beliefs. Now to think about it, if Aurelia were to go by the name "Mrs Jounes", Emma might have guessed her identity (and thus, relationship to William) before the engagement party and might have refused to go as an attendee.
Hmm... i think im blabbering on too much...

Anyway, Thanks Whispers!!! You are getting faster - ep 6 out only 3 days since the completion of the previous episode!!! Thank you!! Keep up the good work!!!

>>20 Ah, my mistake. I got confused about Aurelia's location. I wonder about Hans and the other German maid then, how they came to be under Dorothea's household. Sorry but I haven't read the manga at all, though I'm really tempted to.
"Misanthrope" (meaning a person who distrusts humanity) isn't a very nice 'corruption' for Aurelia...

22 Name: Ronnie : 2007-06-02 14:47 ID:tztpQDxN [Del]

I thaught Dorothea was the one who gave the name "Mrs Trollope" to Aurelia in the first place.

23 Name: Zanza : 2007-06-02 15:31 ID:rzYniCTS [Del]

The episode was great. I guess in the next episode William will call off the wedding? That's going to cause quite the ruckus, as I don't think calling off weddings in the Victorian period is as easy as it is today considering how important image was then.

So Emma got the ring from the pudding, meaning she'll find love soon? And Hans got the Churchbell, meaning a wedding? Arrggh... I hope William and Emma stay together, as cool as Hans is.

24 Name: zenaida : 2007-06-02 20:25 ID:97079Vme [Del]

>>22 I have no idea who gave Aurelia the "Mrs Trollope" name. In the manga, it is implied that everyone in the area calls her by this name. Dorothea doesnt know her real name but calls her that anyway.
>>23 You know, having watched episode 6, i have this feeling that i am not quite sure which direction the anime will take. It seems to have taken quite a different direction from the manga.
In the manga, after returning to the Molders household, Hans notice she is different - she is more cheerful. And William knows where she's staying and writes frequently to her and even pays her a surprise visit. And the Molders do not have any intentions of moving.
In the anime, Emma seems to have make a change for the worse - she's become even more distant (as if she isnt quiet and distant enough already.) William has no idea where she is and what's more, the Molders are moving to London!! Where did THAT come from??!!?? (How are all those servants going to fit in that townhouse??!!??)
The previous discrepancies - meeting sister at the beach instead of at Rotten Row; engagement party at Lionel's instead of at the Jounes' - fine, whatever, at least the story carries on along the same line. Sigh. I liked the letter-writing and surprise visit part in the manga and had hoped the anime would have them too!!!
Gah

>>23 Oops, didnt seem to have a point that addressed your post in my previous post, Zanza. Here's what i was trying to get at:
If the anime were to deviate SO much from that manga that the Emma-William pairing is broken, I am SO going to kill the anime people!!!!

26 Name: servidor : 2007-06-02 21:10 ID:JQ2MnenB [Del]

>>24

I know how you feel, the letter exchange and the surprice visit are two of my favorite chapters of the manga as well as Episode 5. I would hate that they ignore those parts.

I didn't like the direction they take for Emma from the manga, as you say she was cheerful and happy with her love but now she's mortified for her relationship as she was unworthy of been loved, or at least by William to the point of running away. Yet the titles of the following two episodes are "Whereabouts" and "Resolution" gave me some hope that both Emma and William will reunite and find the courage to carry on their romance.

Longtime reader, first time poster [I've always wanted to say that :) ]
But let's get down to business...

>>24 This was the kicker for me:
"This engagement is cancelled". -William
(He did not pull the trigger that fast in the manga...)

These plot changes have made me take a more serious look at the whole series. And now that I think about it, they began at the end of the first season. Flashback with me when William met Emma at the train station in the last ep. That never happened in the manga. Instead, he expresses his appreciation for Emma by buying a Lily of the Valley from a flower girl at the station. This is important because William ignored a flower girl earlier in the manga before he knew about Emma's past. That was never shown in the anime. Subtlety counts!

Why the changes? I think it's because of the intended audience - the staff is trying to make this series more exciting. I have more to say, but I'll hold until later.

Sorry for the long post...I'm kinda disappointed...

Interesting, you're right.

The change is because the anime was originally scheduled for 36 episode but was cut short to 12 episodes because lack of budget.
Usually when an anime is planned a TV network gets involved early in the planning stage(TBS for act one) but as you can see for act two there is no large TV network involved.

They did not have any plans to create the second act but because of passionate patronage from all over the world they decided to develop it to cash in from the fad.

In other words act two became possible of YOU.

Zenaida and servidor... you read my mind. The exchanging letters and the surprise visit at the molders estate was beautiful. even if the anime deviate from the manga, they should include these events. How is it feels to send letters to someone so special, (in the era where is no instant messaging) and also waiting for that special someone to reply the letters?? how william and emma would have felt during that time?? these things will show the viewers how much emma and willie really love and care for each other. i think Kaoru Mori sensei did a great job in expressing that.. hehe

31 Name: Anonymous : 2007-06-03 13:50 ID:daqCNYhm [Del]

I think the changes are interesting. It makes the anime unpredictable. I am really looking forward to Ep 7 now! Of course, the manga was great! But so is the anime!

32 Name: karajan : 2007-06-03 14:02 ID:JZ/SffyF [Del]

My thoughts after watching this episode for the third time (I know I know...) is that the second act so far is being set up like a tragedy: the Romeo and Juliet play in episode 3 foreshadowing something? Also Emma's comments about God testing her... At the very least, I think there's going to be much more conflict and friction with the Molders moving.

Even though I haven't read the manga, I second >>25 Zenaida's opinion. For the love of all that is holy, they had better not break up the Emma and Wil pairing!

33 Name: ladymage : 2007-06-03 20:18 ID:lI22KB1N [Del]

>>32 However much they deviate, I doubt they'd break up Emma & William. It's following the classic formula: Impossibly Virtuous Heroine (Emma), Idiot Hero (William), & Self-Sacrificing Hero (Hans). And the Self-Sacrificing Hero, however much we love him, never gets the girl. (being self-sacrificing and all…)

All we're really missing is the Villainness. Eleanor's too spineless at this point to count.

34 Name: Judgemaster : 2007-06-03 20:44 ID:rAv4gMSB [Del]

very true ladymage, very true ^^

35 Name: Zephire : 2007-06-03 21:41 ID:jYtEVzQI [Del]

>>33

Couldn't Viscount Campbell be considered the villain because of what he ends up doing?

36 Name: ladymage : 2007-06-03 22:23 ID:lI22KB1N [Del]

>>35 I don't know what Campbell's up to, so I can't say on that score, but the Villainess is a specific role. The Villainess is the woman who rivals the Impossibly Virtuous Heroine for the Idiot Hero's affections, using any and all means at her disposal. These usually involve seduction and mind-f*** capabilities. She's willing and eager to totally ruin the IVH's life in suitably devious ways. She's evil, but with style.

A Villain, on the other hand, usually goes about his business with the subtlety of a brickbat.

37 Name: Neith : 2007-06-04 03:28 ID:VlEVt61a [Del]

"Eleanor's too spineless at this point to count."

True. :| From her maid to her sister (and her father, to an extent(, it seems as if everything gets done for Eleanor, without her doing anything for herself.

I disagree with ladymage since Emma never showed any interest in Hans and hence there is no question of Hans getting the girl since love is supposed to be mutual and not one sided (If there is any).

40 Name: servidor : 2007-06-04 10:38 ID:7rpy9Hh1 [Del]

I do belive that William has some virtues that redeem him as a character, been the most important that despite the era they are living in, he had always seen Emma as his equal and not a mere servant, neither as someone he can impress or buy with his fortune and status.

41 Name: Judgemaster : 2007-06-04 17:09 ID:cRafM/7v [Del]

i have to agree with servidor there.

42 Name: ladymage : 2007-06-04 19:29 ID:ZAlzigdQ [Del]

>>37 * nods * Even her decision to 'go after' William was due to prompting by her maid, otherwise she would have moped around for the entire season.

>>39 * blinks * I thought I said that Hans doesn't have a chance. If, as SSH, he runs true to form, he'll help her all he can, but while she'll recognize his kindness, she'll never really see him as a possibility for romantic love.

43 Name: Xtian : 2007-06-06 06:33 ID:QR8IiTfI [Del]

hmm... I think my life is a traggic hero (or goof)... i have a lot of female friends who come to me for advice on their love life and relationships but none that actually see me as a possible candidate. And I help them all cause I care =_=;;

(then again, I'm no Hans lol)

44 Name: Judgemaster : 2007-06-06 18:03 ID:K9CtgX6D [Del]

Xtian, the way see it, you are not a tragic hero. haha.. You are a great hero, helping those girls without expecting anything in return. I just pity the girls coz they dont see what a great candidate you are.. haha.. As for Hans, i think he is just another guy, nothing more, and considering the series will end at ep12 (maybe) i doubt there will be "romantic" events between the two... ^^ but then again, predictions are still predictions..

45 Name: kimmay : 2007-06-06 22:18 ID:jo0u7oGQ [Del]

xtian, i was like that, i was the girl with a bunch of guy friends and would help them with their love life & relationships.. totally same boat.

BUT...

If you wait the right one, they will notice that you were right there the BEST of BEST and you'll be happy... i know waiting takes forever but you will find somebody.

i waited a long time and now i'm happy with my bf more and more everyday :)
