This full-length recap episode summarizes the events of the first season of Victorian Romance Emma, but also contains about 20-30% new scenes and dialogue giving various characters' reactions to the events being depicted. Then, as we see Emma getting ready for her first day at work in her new mansion, the narrator intones, "And now... on to the conclusion."
I feel excited, delighted to the point of giddiness, and -- strangely -- scared at the same time as I announce that...
WORK HAS BEGUN.
Wish us luck. I'm going to be VERY busy for a while. It's been a while since we've done this sort of thing, but we're going to do our best!
good luck guys (that's all that i can offer...sigh)
Have fun with the subbing and please include the guide (i forgot the actual name >.<) at the end of each eps also. I love those things, very educational.

Whisper's Guide to Emma's World! :P Is anyone else as giddy as I am? @_@
Me! As an experiment, I'm going to obsessively detail my progress at http://whispers-iitran.livejournal.com/ so that you can follow along and see all the stuff that goes into the production of a fansub. I don't know if I'm going to do that for EVERY episode; this is just an experiment for episode 00.
I... can't believe how excited I am... I can't ... wait!!!!!!!
Thanks all you are all a blessing.
Thanks for the journal idea... keeps my obsession in check!
Hi whispers! now I'm really interested in seeing chapter 0, the fencing scene is ticking my curiority. If you're interested I found a dictionary of fencing terms but it is in French at http://www.synec-doc.be/escrime/dico/dico_escrime.html .
A pity that, although I am half-French myself, I don't speak a word of it.
For fencing buffs that might have some insight for me, the fencing scene is isolated out into the file at http://astrange.ithinksw.net/emma-f.avi
Of interest to me are the last two words, the first of which appears to be "touche." The other one's giving me trouble. Is it "bout?" "bourrer?"
Thanks to IMrVacBob for hosting.
From what I garnered, it's 'botte' (This is from the french site from what I understood when I read it). Basically, it's sort of a secret move you do once your opponent has behind to move towards you, you lunge and hit, and they're already moving so they can't spot the blow, like what Hakin did and waited until his opponent began to move (or rather, he was taken by surprise and reacted ^^')
hmmm... don't know. i actually thought she said "woah" as an expression of awe but i don't think the Japanese say it (altho she's not Japanese....) I don't think it sounded like bout, bourrer, or botte. It sounds more like bois or vois... argh... Whispers ganbatte!
I can't catch what she says either, it's totally French, I mean, Greek to me.
Even her pronounciation doesn't sound like 'touche' either.
I tried to google it with every Japanese Katakana I can think of, but no luck.
And the second one, to me, it sounds like, voile, boire, poire...
I came across with "toucher du bois!" but she doesn't say "du" there...Hmmm. :(
Uh, just in case, I meant it's most likely "touche" but her pronunciation just doesn't sound like one that a Japanese would pronounce that word. So, the 2nd word might be something different from what we actually hear.
Thank you for subbing Emma! ^^
thank you for subbing "Emma"! i loved the first season and look forward to the 2nd. now if only a group would sub "lovely complex." >_>
the episode is on youtube it's very great hakim is so funny
i'm french , i like this manga so much and it's so funny to heard french word
thanks for all
We here at the DFK Institute for Quality Anime do not believe in the transmission of anime in any form other than complete, high-quality episodes.
This means of course, that YouTube'd versions will not be tolerated by the Institute, nor will .rmvb versions. RealMedia is a dead technology, and should be treated as such.
Hi,
First of all: THANK YOU.
Is any second act episodes ready already? What is the approximate time when we can wait for results? Two week, a month?
Sorry to be rushing, but we just can't wait :)
Keep up the good work!
Barring any big problems with encoding (the raw we have is a bit weird), expect episode 0 quite soon.
Otsukaresama, Whispers!
And good luck to Jedi!
Also, thank you for the raw, WAHa!
YAy!! GOOD LUCK!! I'm soo excited!! I can't wait....but sometimes patience is a virtue.... ^o^;
Yes, thank you for subbing this wonderful anime. I don't usually get into fansubs, but this is one I'll definitely would love to keep tabs on. It's gonna be great, I know it. I'm following the manga as it is released in the US and it's gorgeous too! I just love Emma!
I'll be checking AnimeSuki.com or wherever is you guys put up your shows. I hope once it finishes airing, that the license will get picked up by Geneon or FUNimation, wouldn't mind hearing Emma in English. :)
nice, saw Episode 01 a few hours ago and it's turning quite nicely. Maybe my memory isn't going well, but it seems Ep 01 deals with a story not found in the manga... I have the tankoubon in storage and too lazy to bring them out to double check lol.
on a side note, if you guys need assistance in translation/script checking I will be available to help on a more consistent basis as I'm done with my studies.
If you got everybody you need, then all the best Whispers (and gang) ^_^/
Well eagerly waiting for this episode to be posted(torrent).
Tracker seems to be down already....XD
Yup, it is down. I managed to download the torrent only.
So far so good now. I am downloading it... 22.4% now.
Thanks Whispers, Mogura, Vader and all that makes this possible.
HUGE KISS for all of you.

Thank you for your nice word(and kiss too of course)!! :D
I too would like to thank you all for a great release and I'm looking forward to episode 01 <3
Thank you guys for your hard work! The video seems to be of a higher quality than the original also you did rewrite some of Emma and William's dialogs, rigth? Some situations are clearer now and the new font is good.
The font is actually incorrect. Stuff got messed up in the struggle to get the damn raw to cooperate. Future episodes will use the same font as Kamichu did.
This was great - I thought they must have had some unused 'footage' from Series I - and some upcoming, so skillfully woven.
'bout' is (I think) a shortening of 'a bout' 'the (an) ending' eg synonomous with end of the bout :-) (if a fencing geek corrects me - fine).
It really is amazing how well Kaoru Mori has understood the subtleties of the Victorian class system .... using Hakim as a sort of 'outside' commentator & portatraying him as a free spirit means a lot of truths can be astutely related. There were indeed Victorian-era Indian Hindu princes who broke their own conventions in just such a way, although the Hindu caste system is at least as restrictive & blinkered as Victorian hierarchies & Hakim might have faced at least as many problems as William.
It feels like the anime production is on much more sure ground than with Series I - I heard it went way over budget & this was before the Maid-tastic meme hit Japan - caused in part by the success of the Emma manga & later the anime.
I also hope you will keep any historical & other extras - and thank you for a lovely intermission! I'm so much looking forward to this.
Thank you very much! I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series!
Yay! Thanks guys! Keep up the good work! :)
I wish that show would have better raws cause those are...but thank you anyway
Thank you for the release! Good job guys. ^^ The images aren't as sharp as I'd like but it's still an enjoyable quality. :)
That is how it was produced and broadcast. It is meant to be in soft focus.
Part of the problem is that that's how the original TV episodes look... so they're fuzzy ON PURPOSE. That being said, these raws are not the best; we're trying to sharpen them up as much as we can.
Oh, Xtian, I guess in the rush we forgot to give you any kind of reply to your offer. Sorry about that. As it is, with mogura doing the gruntwork of translating and whispers polishing things up, there's not all that much room for further work, but what I recommend is hopping onto IRC and talking to us there.
haha, no problem the work seems to be fine, I saw iichan's episode 00 and they seem quite accurate (although there are a few places I would have translated differently, nothing wrong in difference in interpretation). Although I'm still against translating "suki" into "love" I remember back in Kimagure Orange Road, the main guy kept saying "suki" "suki" all the time (they translated "love") but in the end he says "I don't really like (suki) you... I love (ai) you" and at that time they translated it suki as like which kinda lost the power to the reader of the jump he made from saying like to love.
So I'm just afraid in any romantic show when people say suki (translated as love) when at a later stage that person might say "aishiteru" which is actually love.
anyhow, it's ok, I'm working on Romeo x Juliet as you guys seem to be doing fine. =)
