Hi.
Does anybody know, how much volumes Emma Banghaien has?
Thanks for the nice releases.^^

I think there was talk of maybe half a dozen chapters, but I'm probably wrong.
I seem to recall "two volumes" being mentioned, which would make more like a whole dozen and a few.
What a wonderful chapter-- it's amazing how quickly she's able to develop a romance and have it feel natural....
I've wondered, as I've read these "Further Tales" whether they'll be able to integrate some of them into the continuation of the anime, over time-- much as they did with these extra scenes of Hakim in the first few eps (that, as I remember, weren't in the main volumes, but was in some supplementary volume of some sort). I think they're only doing the next 2 volumes worth, so stuff like what we're seeing now wouldn't work, but still-- I imagine some of it might pan out eventually.
They did say they were doing a second season, right?
OH IIchan group... I love you people!!!!!!! I love Emma manga. These chapters are great. I just see how mrs Mori has developed her drawing skills. A few days ago I revised the chapter one of Emma and compared to the Bangaihen series... my my my! They are great!!!!!!!! I want these series to last I beg on my knees... there are many many many side stories to tell.
Emma kicks ass, thanks for translating. :)
"there are many many many side stories to tell"
Now what I'd like to see Mori add is a side story or two set in India. What was Monica doing there, learning ninjitsu in Hakim's dojo? How about the dancing girls think? Did they just figure "this entourage job is kinda demeaning but it pays my bills" or are they actually Hakim's and Monica's ninja bodyguards or do they like the work because it includes travel or something else?
Also, what about Grace? In vol. 3 ch. 16, her friend Eliza was all "I'll have Grace become a man and receive a title!" and Alice and Fanny just went "My, how dreamy, Eliza!" and "Yes, Eliza!" instead of going "no you can't" and "OMG WTF" and all that. Hmm.
What if, in some side story, Emma turns out to be set in some alternate universe where people could already switch gender in the 1890s? Maybe in vol. 7 ch. 51 and 52 when William and Arthur talked to Grace about her relationship they said "that guy" and used the male pronouns because they thought Eliza was going to switch instead? It would also explain characters complaining so much less about sexism than about classism (being able to turn male if they didn't like feminine roles and vice versa).
For your kind information in India there is no culture of a dojo or even ninjitsu, but only wrestling that to in a akhada(wrestling schools). Moreover royalties never used to wrestle but watch wrestling matches.
Yeah, I figured Hakim was an exception. In Vol. 1 ch. 3 he said he was a ninja and later Emma was all "Ninjas...in India?" BTW, there's a fanfic about the dancing girls being bodyguards here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2503304/3/ :) Also, maybe Mori figured he was in an Indian martial art and just said ninjitsu because she didn't want to confuse readers who didn't know about Gatka or Kalaripayat or Shastar Vidyaa?
Actually, that was a simple translation mistake that was subsequently fixed, so you can just ignore it entirely.
Ah, thanks. :) Where can I get the fixed version (I don't have bittorrent access and got Emma translations on #lurk)?
You buy it in the stores.
OK. I hadn't seen Vol. 1 in stores yet here.
The dancing girls were similar to maids who could dance and provide company to the prince.I believe 'Shastar Vidyaa' is Astrya Vidyaa(actually Sanskrit terminology) which means Knowledge of Weapons.
