So I just stopped by the book store, where I was quite surprised to find Emma volume 1 - in Swedish. Apparently, it claims to be the first western translation. They're also promising to get it done at one volume per month. At first glance, it looks decent enough, and is fairly well written. It gets a few lines wrong, but nothing important.
A Finnish translation has also been announced, which I suspect will be based on the Swedish version.
So I figured we should make a thread to keep track of which languages the various Emma works have been translated into. So far, I've got:
Please post news of any other translations in this thread!
Here is Animax East Asia's page for the Emma anime. I wish they had a sample video or something up, I'd love to hear their dub.

The manga is also being released in Germany by Tokyopop.

They're also releasing the Anime there, can't believe I missed that.

I'll be sure to post again later if I find any more versions.
can someone remind me who is distributing the anime?
if its bandai, then theres a chance it'll be released via its european branch BEEZ entertainment.
if not.....[goes off to sulk into his tea]
Well, the Manga will be released in Italy, in italian of course, in November.
HI all. I haven´t heard of any Latin country release for the manga in spanish (as if any manga comes here). The only news I´ve got is some local release by the end of the year in Spain but those products cannot be sold in here. So we are locally forming groups of translations to boost the interest of the national editors.
I am starting a 30 day project to fully translate emma manga in spanish. Nothing fancy! But I would love to use IIchan´s scans as a base.
I already have a sample (vol 01 ch01). Please, Who can I talk to in order to get permission for using it?
(I will credit the scans, so don´t worry)
We don't pretend we have any authority to say what you can and can't do with the things we translate, as we usually don't have permission to do it either. So go right ahead.
Thanks a lot!! I really appreciate it. bowing her head
I went to Barnes and Noble locally, and it's still not there! Has it shown up in the states at all?
May have to order online...
No problem. If you want to translate Bangaihen too, go ahead.
In France Emma has been licensed by Kurokawa, for now no date has been announced but we have the ISBN :D

Emma in Italy: first volume on sale
Well, last weekend at a big convention the first volume of Emma was on sale. I have to say that on paper Mori-sensei's work is simply wonderful, and we all know that her drawing style will get so much better by the end.
The translation is kinda on target. They got it wrong immediatly by defining the Jounes "nobility" and not "gentry" (Vol. 1 page 11). A couple of chapters later they do fix it, but still it gives the wrong idea from the start.
SPOILER ALERT

Also, toward the end of the volume there are huge grammatical mistakes, and that's no excuse for any published product.
All in all I am happy to buy the takubon: it is my way to show to Mori-sensei my appreciation for her wonderful work!
Excuse me for asking... will there be a Emma Bangaihen Volume 2??
There hasn't been a volume 1 yet, and this is the wrong thread.
oops sorry.
hmm.. anyone here knows when will EMMA air in Animax SEA?
Emma volume 01 sighted in Australia!
I was a bit disheartened at seeing all these reports of international releases, with nothing available here yet, meaning we were way behind, or I just kept visiting The Bookshop when it was sold-out. :P
Emma was seen at Kinokuniya in the Sydney CBD, for the princely sum of about 13 AU dollars. It's an import of the US release, so it's the standard CMX edition, no special news to report.
I know this boat's already sailed, but it's still worthwhile commenting on how nicely it's turned out. The presentation is tops, and the material has been caressed by caring hands. Most satisfying.
And >>23, please see the first two posts in the thread; they both mention animax and south-east asia, I assume that's what you're looking for.
Some time ago I received from whispers permission, that I can retranslate Emma to my language - polish. So here's link for the page of the group, where you can find it:

:)
The Animax dub is horrible. It's got all the wrong things in it I mentioned in the other thread.
Manga is available at Borders in Kuala Lumpur.
here in spain we'll get volume 7 (final) in may, yay! but i dont know if they will be releasing volume 8. also we had published the two novels, and anime is on its way, but not any news lately on release date...
oops, i forgot to add they released shirley this very month too!
The Swedish volume 7 is listing Shirley as being released next, too.
I'm kind of getting the feeling the US manga industry is being left behind these days. They're more expensive and much slower than many european companies serving far smaller markets. What gives?
Yeah there is at least 3 volumes of finnish emma manga (sold in various places)
Hi! I'm from Italy.
We also have an italian version of Emma, by Dynamic Italia (you can see details here: http://www.dynit.it/scheda.asp?mn=3&ctl=2&iddsc=347)
They announced 8 volumes (one every two months -_-)
in france the manga is publishing on kurokawa http://www.kurokawa.fr/a_paraitre/emma_t2/
the 7 volume are respected

Huh, what gives, indeed. I live in AU, so we get the US releases imported. This is even more depressing hearing that. I've only seen the first volume out, and people are talking of the seventh in far away lands.
I suspect it has to do with a glut in the US market. Certain companies license everything they can see, but a lack of staff/resources/time means any single product takes forever to come out. I imegine the array of titles available in other countries is much smaller.
I don't know whether it's a blessing or a curse; possibly both. I follow some decidedly non-mainstream stuff which I'm very happy to see licensed. But at the same time, some of the stuff I'm following has a release schedule of one volume every four months. Hau~~
I´ve got the first 4 volumes in english from the US. yes they are very slow. The 4th volume was released this late june. Geee!
Oh, before I forget. Last month I finished the painful task of translating the first 7 volumes of the manga to spanish for the americas.
I remember when I asked you permission! >>7 I can´t believe it took me so long... how on earth you find time to do all your work?! But, hey, thanks for letting me do it. Yes wispers, it was painful but it was FUN! Big hug!
