Does anyone know if or when the last volume of the bangaihen series is coming out? I'm talking about the graphic novel.
All I know is Mori said she's off to England when it's out.
Oh, that's great. Does that mean she's going to be doing research for Shirley?
Latest issue of Beam says it'll be out on the 25th.
So, we can still enjoy Miss Mori fantastic tales of moe maids?
volume ten just came out today
Better yet.. scanlate it :)
Is CMX going to release volumes 8 to 10 as well?
Actually, they said they will. Only, they're not releasing 8 until 2009. It's on the CMX question/answer section in their newsletter.
FYI:
Amazon has a release date for volume 8 of Emma.
March 17, 2009
yay!!!!!!!!!
Polly (the gossip queen!). Alma is so nice! I love her... (Why don´t they pair her up with Hans... :p
Way to go Whispers! Keep bangaihen alive!
I think Hans and Adele make a better couple. They both have serious eyes and similar stern personalities.
Now that you, Arvaril, point it out... Yes they do!!
Hans and Adele are both good people, diligent workers, a bit of unsocial but goodhearted... yeah! They can light some sparks together... Besides when Adele lets her hair loose she is hot! (Manga chapter 50, wasn't it?!)
adele is hot!!
Both are strong and stern characters. Its going to to make a charming picture if one makes the other smile and vice versa (Adele and Hans).
The one thing I like about Kaoru Mori's characters is that they leave an impact on you. Even the extras makes you sympatize with the character. Hakim, Miss Eleanor and even Miss Grace Jones. You tend to love these characters as they pass by.
Even the cook that that was preparing dinner on the eve that Mr Jones and Miss Elenor ate dinner after the ball. How can I forget the line "When we cooks are able to move the nobles by means of our flavors, In that instant we become the same"
Even That Girl in the shop named Sara became interesting one a customer decided to buy from her just to be sent to her as a gift.
any news?
Translation done, editing done, mogura's slowly but steadily doublechecking my translation.
"The frenzied hare may set the pace, but slow and steady wins the race."
All corrections are in. I'll try to get this buttoned up tonight.
Hans is sooo friggin hotness............
yes its comming
But most of the complain about the first season was that it was too slow. I mean, there's slow... right? Then there's too slow. :P I guess a hastened pace is what this series needed, considering all the drama the second season has (much more than the first one).
I haven't read the manga past volume 3, so I suppose I may be a little biased in that regard.
Zanza, i have to agree that the first season was... too slow. Really slow. (But i liked the pace. It was like sipping at quality wine.) But in comparison, the second season is... too fast. As in, it's a step beyond fast if you get what i mean. Think about it. 2 volumes in 12 episodes. And mind you, the 1st 2 volumes are a lot less eventful than the rest of the series. And now... 5 volumes in 12 episodes? Mathematically, it's more than twice as fast. And a lot more stuff happens in comparison. So it's actually A LOT faster. Oh, and book 7 is a lot thicker than the other volumes. This second season feels like drinking water after sprinting a long distance.
But nevertheless, i appreciate having the second season of Emma being made. Seeing Emma in colour and animation is a joy. (I had imagined Emma's dress at William's engagement party to be pink and yellow, but it turned out to be green... haha) That reminds me - when's episode 7 going to come out? (eagerly awaiting the next episode!!)
Zanza, go read the rest of the manga if you can. It's... kind of different from the anime. I find it more elegant, chaste and beautiful. The motion is slower and a lot more can be learnt through the body languages and facial expressions of the characters in the drawings.
But they seem to have changed some events in the 2nd season`s anime, right? To make some of the events flow quickly, and others to fill in the gap (like episode 6).
I dont know much about the comparison between the story sequence 1st seasons manga and anime though.
I don't care that it'll be over by early July. I don't care, I don't care, I don't care. I'm just glad enough that Emma was popular and loved enough to be made into an anime. HEART <3333
Oh definitely, no doubt. When I finished watching the first season of Emma I was left with a hole in my freggin' soul. I needed more Emma. Heh. :)
>>101
I'm very eager to read the rest of the manga. I would read it all right now if I could, but CMX's release is a volume every 3 or 4 months. :( My copy of volume 4 ships next week from Rightstuf, hopefully! :)
I LOVE vre, i came across it whilst trying to find out what my name (Emma lol) was in kanji, and it came up with Victorian Romance Emma, being a bit of a sucker for shojo romancy anime, i clicked and low and behold, im obsessed! thankyou Iichan, and iitran for translating both acts of Emma, they are now on my iPod aha,

Hi, I was wandering around http://rsf.mangas-fr.com/Ritual.htm
for a couple of days, now, and was concerned whether Emma Bangaihen was sticking at chapter 8.
I was so afraid that Bangaihen had ended. But its a mistake on the site... the loaded file corresponds to the chapter 9 of Emma Bangaihen.
I don´t understand a word of japanese but it´s about the younger years of William and Hakim in india... SOOOO CUUUUUTE XD
Cant wait for the translation. But I better hold my horses until you release episode 00 of second season. I reckon these days have not been easy on you, Whispers and Mogura.
Cheers. Just wanted to let everyone else know.

Right Stuf has announced that they have obtained the license for both seasons of Victorian Romance Emma: http://emma.rightstuf.com/
First up: We're excited to announce the acquisition of VICTORIAN ROMANCE EMMA, as well as its continuation ("Second Act"), which is currently airing on Japanese television.
Right Stuf will release the anime series through its Nozomi Entertainment label as two "season" box sets with Japanese audio and English-language subtitles:
- The initial box set release will contain the 12-episode first season in its entirety; and
- The second box set will include the 12 episodes of the series’ "Second Act," plus "Episode 0: Intermission," a recap/preview that aired prior to the start of the Season 2 telecast.
First boxset out in June.

Annoyingly enough I've been trying to pre-order both of these. The idiots won't ship out to the UK, has to be a US postal address.
God damn it.
>>144 Maybe you should try later at Amazon, or some other retailer.
It's been mentioned earlier, but I'd like to see the Whisper's notes for the last three episodes. It certainly doesn't breach any copyright, and it is unlikely (no matter how good the company) that a similar thing will be included in the boxsets.
Wow. I am so happy. the release date for first DVD is june 24th this year! yay! Thanks "anonymous".
Well, I got my name on the box. I guess most of you did already. I am so thrilled. It was thanks to this board that I found out they were pre-ordering the item.
Thank you all!
Love.
Thanks for the link! I've purcased 1-4 of the manga so far, and I just did the preorder.
Although I'm worried about their date of 2012 for the second act...is this just a placeholder date?
The 2012 is just a placeholder. The first season boxset had the date of 2012 up until a few months or so ago, too =)
The Emma website got an update and a trailer.
Forgot link.

The first box set came out awhile ago, and it's awesome. Aside from one pretty big problem. Every episode after 1 has mono audio. Rightstuf is already collecting information from buyers to keep them updated on a future replacement plan. If you have the boxset and want your discs replaced, send the following information to info@rightstuf.com
--------
E-mail Subject Line: Emma S1 Audio
Your name
Your AnimeOnDVD username (if you have one, if not then remove this)
Your Right Stuf Order # (or where you bought the set, if it wasn’t from Right Stuf)

I've always wondered where everyone's from in this discussion group - am i the only one from my country in this group? how "globalised" is Emma and her fanbase? Not sure how many people are curious... but i'll start first - hopefully the list will grow:
I'm from Singapore!
I'm up for an IRC discussion at the end of the series. I'm from Singapore by the way~
I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio, US... and yes we do love our football team and goetta
stoke on trent, staffordshire, great britain [ and the only british emma fan it seems...
I'm from Croatia, although I live between Italy and Croatia most of the time.
Mabuhay from the Philippines! We don't have Emma but we actually export high-quality maids to Singapore, Hongkong, Japan, and many other countries except N. Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, and many other countries. Come visit us here in Manila! Especially on saturday nights! I LOVE YOU EMMA!!!
(yeah my real name IS Emma!) anyway, im from England, northwest england, seirously, if i asked anyone i knew about "Emma" they would say, "seriously, is there an anime with your name in it?!" pathetic i know lol
"Emma" is just so great.
London, UK.
A friend showed me the subs, and when I first pointed out that the [iichan] meant it had been translated by the idlechan translation group he started twitching, saying 'they're everywhere'. He seems slightly worried by most of the chan boards.
Excellent translations!
Finland, though I've never read Emma
The subtitles are deliberately timed to hang on past the end of the dialog by .4 seconds. That's how we did it for season one, also, except for one episode where I forgot. This gives the subtitles a less rushed feel, especially for short lines of dialog. This is a little trick I learned from watching how Triad did things. It's a feature, not a bug.
thanks zenaida for the info on the aprons i thought i was the only one to notice. You rock :)
You're welcome Kimmay.
OMG...when i finally found Episode 2 online, i nearly cried. Thank you thank you everyone - Whispers for translating, whoever for encoding and finally the people who put it on youtube such that it is accessible to those who do not have bittorrent or whatever it's called. Oh man, thank you so much!!!!!!!!! sob sob sniff sniff kisses and hugs!!
Zenaida: I've been checking that in the series not sure in the manga maids have two different uniforms. One for cleaning and another more fancy for evenings(?) social events(?). Has anyone noticed it? (but I presume it's very practical and logical).
Whispers and IIchan group: MY SINCERE THANKS. ^_^ I've watched the episode 4 times now. Its not blurry and the quality is great! Neat as always. Congrats! Keep them comming!
awwwwww... Episode 2 was awesome already watched it 3 times... can't get enough of Emma. For me it was just by fluke that i found out about Emma. It was the first translated version in english and i'm a total nut like Kaoru about England. I coudln't believe a manga about victorian life as a manga i freaked out and have been hooked ever since. Then seeing the manga come alive and even a second season.. i love it its great...
again and again thank you, thank you for the second season :D
Hi Beatrice1979, i assume you were addressing me in your previous post? Yes, the Molders' maids in the anime has 2 uniforms from what can be seen...now. As for the nice apron, well, it's nice, but can you imagine the maids doing cleaning in them? I dont think they would last very long if they did - imagine dust and dirt getting into the folds of the frills...what a cleaning nightmare.
yes you are totally right. perhaps it's one of the things they fixed in the anime episodes.
Cute, cheerful girls in school uniforms singing and dancing? A moe-tastic depiction of a Morning Musume pajama party? FLAWLESS VICTORY! Thanks to mink at projecthello.com and mogura for translation.
Someone please seed Emma 7 and 10. Thanks!
This song is terrible. The worst I've ever heard.
Then again, I'm more of a NIN fan, so I doubt I have much authority in this area.
Comparing NIN to a japanese girl band. Wow. Just wow.
Seriously. Trent Reznor's not kawaii. He's not kawaii at all.
Move over, Densha Otoko. There's a new goddess in town!
"Maid in Akihabara" is a live-action comedy/drama starring Mako-sama, the voice actress for Yurie-sama in Kamichu. She plays Saki, a girl in dire straits that needs to find a new job, fast! As luck would have it, she finds one... in a maid cafe in Akihabara that caters to anime-crazed otaku.
Yurie's voice actress in a French maid outfit... what's not to like? But Saki undergoes culture shock as she adjusts to the moe otaku's world, making mistakes along the way, but also finding friends and discovering her SECRET MOE POWER.
"Maid in Akihabara," a six episode series, coming soon from IIchan Translation Group.
WORK HAS BEGUN.
Finally managed to get around and downloaded 'Maid in Akihabara' and showed it to my housemate. Needless to say, he loved it to. Thanks again for subbing this wonderful series...
Please please can some one seed Maid in Akihabara Eps:1&2 I really want to watch this mini series so please help a fellow anime fan out. Domo ^_^.
There's a bunch of people downloading ep 1 with only 2mb to go, so if someone could seed it for just a few minutes that would be great :D
FYI -- Mako-san was also the VA for Nanoha in the two Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha series.
I just started d/l the episodes off of your site. KAWAII!!!!!
I think I spent 1/3 of the episode squealing over the cute outfits, 1/3 in jealousy that I couldn't look as cute in the same outfit, and 1/3 wondering where the otaku got those wonderful toys.
