Thanks alot for chapter 4. I loved how the grandma shot the arrows and scared off Amira's brother. I hope and pray chapter 5 is coming out soon.
If you're in a hurry, find some raws.

Yeah, but i still haven't found any RAW yet :/
What happned to 4th chapter it has been month already since it was published ?
Waiting on public raw ?
Hello ^^
I wanted to know if the chapter 4 would be translated soon. I heard that the mag in which the chapter 4 was has been released in april. So I was just wondering if the raws can't be found ?
Seems some just turned up, so hopefully things will be back on track.
So some raws for chapter 4 finally turned up? That is a very good news. Hopefully I will get to read the next chapter soon. Thanks alot for choosing to translate Otoyomegatari. Its so amazing and unique. Please keep working on it
Thank you for the wonderful manga. mad loving it so far.
What's bucking me is why Amira's tribe married her off so late? Girls those days usually married at 13 or something.
HERE IS COME THE 9TH SINPHONY OF MANGA!!!!
TAHNKS VERY MUCH!!!!
Dat ass or DAT ASS?
any news on this release?
There's just the four pages, and no dialogue, so not much to "release" there. Maybe we'll include the pages with the chapter once some decent scans of that show up.
Hi, i can help for "decent scans" of Fellows! 4 April in a week (or more), and for the next Fellows! in june.
put it on some public tracker for everyone

Fellows! 2009-APRIL volume 4 (30 p)

Better quality if needed, expect Chapter 5 in 2 weeks.
Now scanning the short story and cover...
hxxp://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=t7hs7nc4brd
Cover + short story
>>8 doesn't seem to work. http://mangahelpers.com/downloads/read-online/36351/1 seems to exist, though.
>>9 is a bit lacking in detail. If you're going to scan manga, here's a good way to do it: Scan at high resolution, like 600 DPI, and completely ignore colour curves. Then run a threshold on the image, picking a value that gets you a good reproduction of the screentones and lines, and after that, scale down to a more manageable size. The results will be a lot better than most other techniques.
=> That's the same, Urhereimnot delete my post and made a local mirror of my RAW on MangaHelpers with "reading online".
Original mirror : http://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=9n1bpf364tf
Doing HQ RAW tomorrow with lossless format, more details, better highlights and highest dpi.
=> Thanks for your tips! I'm a beginner, it's always useful.
If you do your scans the way I described earlier, which will get you almost perfect whites and blacks, you can use PNG with just, say, 16 colours, and get files that are almost as small as, or smaller than JPEGs, and are much better quality.

It should be added to the iichan/wakachan indexes post-haste!
yes, perhaps add all of his sites under the links section as well?
Thanks ALL

Need help.
Does anyone know if or when the last volume of the bangaihen series is coming out? I'm talking about the graphic novel.
Is CMX going to release volumes 8 to 10 as well?
Actually, they said they will. Only, they're not releasing 8 until 2009. It's on the CMX question/answer section in their newsletter.
FYI:
Amazon has a release date for volume 8 of Emma.
March 17, 2009
I'm namcanh from vnsharing.net, a site for the Vietnamese community to share manga, manwa, anime...
I really like your Project "Emma" on onemanga.com
Please let us use your scan. I'll translate into Vietnamese in order to share with who can't read English at my site.
We'll of course leave your credits there, Or we'll do everything else you want.
My email is wanderintowns@yahoo.com, or you can visit us here: http://vnsharing.net
Thank for reading
And please answer me as soon as you can.
We don't have any rights to any of the material in the first place, so we are not going to tell anyone else what to do with it. Do as you like.
Take our name off it, though. Have fun!
thanks
hi all!
I'm from site vnsharing.net namcanh asked you for permission And now I'm translating Emma into Vietnamese .
Do you still keep the raw scanlation of Emma . Because my editors like to use original version to edit.
Thanks for your reading
Let's see how long it lasts this time...
Youtube channel:

Whisper's Guide playlist:
Watching through the Whisper's Guides brings back so many great memories.
Also, that Miku video is awesome. XD
You know, I still prefer your Whisper's Guide over the guide that came with the season 1 Emma boxset (I haven't managed to find the second season). Not to say the official guide is bad (I particularly liked the fashion and building layouts in it), but it doesn't really touch on much of what you did.
Thanks for posting those =) It sure does bring me back. Any plans on posting your guide for the second season as well?
In time, I will post the second season's guides, yes. If I get particularly ambitious (and can find raws) I might even do three more at the end for the episodes we didn't do.
I was about to say I had the raws, but then I remembered that I forewent downloading the raws for fear of seeing the ending which I wouldn't understand. I have the subbed ones the other group did, but not the raws, unfortunately.
We've been translating the Touhou Chottonmatten (http://tohojustamoment.com/) promo videos lately. They're on whispers' Youtube channel too, in glorious high quality:

From Anime News Network:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-09-30/emma-kaoru-mori-launches-otome-katari-manga
"Historical work about horse-riding, arrow-shooting princess on Asia's Silk Road.
Kaoru Mori, the creator of the award-winning Victorian-era Emma manga, announced on her personal blog this month that she is starting a new manga in the inaugural issue of Enterbrain's Fellows! magazine on October 14. An advertisement in the September 25 issue of the free Toradayo magazine further revealed that the new work is a historical manga set on the Silk Road that connected Asia with Europe before the modern times. The story will center around a princess who knows archery and horsemanship. According to a flyer for Fellows! magazine, the manga is tentatively titled Otome-Katari, and the princess is named Amiru.
Fellows! was originally the name of a spinoff publication to Enterbrain's Comic Beam magazine. Mori drew Emma in Comic Beam, and she later drew Shirley, a manga set in Edwardian England, in the Comic Beam Fellows! publication. CMX Manga publishes Emma and Shirley in North America."
Would you guys at IItran be translating this new manga from Ms. Mori?
Yes, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are the two most mentioned by others, too, usually the latter. What keywords should I look for when researching, I wonder? It's a shame I know so little about this area. And any books that might help, that I can find at the library or bookstore?
I'll see what I can dig up and then report back soon! By the way, I think it's great that there is a foreign Orientalist (the light-haired fellow) in the story! Around the late 1800's, scholars specializing in Asian literature and culture like Sir Aurel Stein traveled through Central Asia collecting texts to be translated and often living with the local populations for a number of years. This is nice for me, because I am an Orientalist-in-training myself! :)
Update!

Fairly cheap, and they ship worldwide.
(And it really is worth buying them, there's a lot of good manga besides Otoyomegatari in Fellows!. It's even a lot better than Beam.)
I look forward to 3. chapter of Otoyomegatari! I can't wait o_O...
Anyway, thx for your translation ~_^
yes its comming
I don't care that it'll be over by early July. I don't care, I don't care, I don't care. I'm just glad enough that Emma was popular and loved enough to be made into an anime. HEART <3333
Oh definitely, no doubt. When I finished watching the first season of Emma I was left with a hole in my freggin' soul. I needed more Emma. Heh. :)
>>101
I'm very eager to read the rest of the manga. I would read it all right now if I could, but CMX's release is a volume every 3 or 4 months. :( My copy of volume 4 ships next week from Rightstuf, hopefully! :)
